First editions: two volumes octavo; hardcover, with upper board titles and decorations and decorated endpapers; 124pp. (with 2pp. of adverts) + 113pp. (with 4pp. of adverts) with a full-colour frontispiece, decorated title page, both volumes with many illustrations. "Songs of a Campaign" shows extensive water damage: boards buckled and stained; lower hinge split; text block edges toned; all pages water-stained; author's ink inscription to the title page; previous owner's ink inscription to the front free endpaper. Lacks dustwrapper. As is. "Digger Smith" has the previous owners' ink inscriptions to the front free endpaper and half-title; toned text block edges; a chip to the fore-edge of the upper board; boards rubbed with some softening of the spine extremities. Lacks dustwrapper. Very good. "Digger Smith" is a complimentary volume from the publisher to W. Leon Gellert, author of "Songs of a Campaign", and is inscribed to this effect.
